Due to the on-going political & social upheaval in Timor-Leste, which is most concentrated in Dili, Arte Moris became an emergency IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camp from the end of April. At its peak, Arte Moris management and senior students took care of up to 500 people, with official support from aid agencies only arriving after several weeks. Around 200 IDP’s are still living here. We would not have been able to give assistance without financial donations by institutions and individuals mentioned on our donors’ page. A very special thank you to them all.

Nevertheless, Arte Moris was able to proceed with classes in History of Art with the Australia- based Timorese artist and art teacher, Maria Madeira, in the month of June.

We also managed to create posters, graffiti and banners for the “Alternative Résistance Peace Campaign”, strongly supported by Dr. Ramos Horta, in July. That campaign is on- going.
